Colonialtown Community Loves a Neighbor

Grace Communities are about connection and growth, but they’re also about serving. The Colonialtown North community reached out in faith to serve someone they had never met.

“We put a little notice in the Colonialtown North newsletter asking if anyone needed help with their yard,” says group member Terry Olson. ”One elderly lady named Ellie responded, so we picked a date and descended on her house.”

Nearly 30 work hours later, her place was transformed. And serving a neighbor not only changed something in a practical way, it connected the Colonialtown group to others in their community.

“A neighbor came out to check us out and may join our community group,” says Terry. “And another neighbor whom we’d invited to our group several times joined in this effort.”

The group had fun in the process, and they left seeds of a spiritual impact behind: “We said a prayer of blessing on Ellie, her house and the neighborhood.”
