Family Ministry leaders Shalimar Basner and Kelley Reineohl took 6th grade girls Carly Neslaw and Grace Dinkins to serve at the Community Food and Outreach Center last week. This Orlando-based organization provides food, crisis care, education and employment to those who are fighting to break the cycle of poverty.
The girls worked together to organize and label items in a variety of areas in the thrift center — including books, magazines, videos, linens, baby items, clothes. They also organized the shelves in the food center, proving that even a small group can make a big difference.
Shalimar said “I have had the opportunity to lead several Family Ministry service projects of all sizes here at Grace, and I am consistently impressed with our kids and students. When it comes to serving others, they ‘bring it’ and get the job done with a positive attitude. It’s an awesome thing to be a part of.”
