Grace Orlando volunteers, Shana Cannon wrote you an email today:
“My son Tyler and I started coming to Grace a little over two years ago because we got an invite postcard in the mail. I had grown up in the church with parents who were very religious and made church a part of our life from the moment we were born. I’m not sure why or how it happened, but i got very turned off to ‘organized religion.’ I felt like like I never had a choice where church was concerned, and I saw so many judgmental people inside it. Once I was old enough to make my own choices, I very consciously made the choice to not be a part of church.
“When I had my son, I knew that I wanted him to know about Jesus. It wasn’t long after that when I received the postcard inviting me to Grace. I remember Pastor Mike saying something in that first service that I very much need to hear: “God is ALWAYS with you. He promises to never leave you or forsake you.”
“Tyler and I have rarely missed a Sunday since that day, and I never new how much I would have to rely on that statement in the coming months. I can’t even begin to tell you how God has worked in my life since. I’ve had some of the most challenging times ever — losing my business of seven years and the financial hardships that came with it. God has kept me close and walked with me through every day of it. Grace has forever changed my life, and for that I want to say thank you.
“I have just accepted a job out in Dallas, and Tyler and I will be relocating there in January. This is a huge decision for me, but it is quite clear that this is the path that we are supposed to be on. Probably the biggest sadness in the move is leaving Grace. But I just wanted to make sure that before I left, I was able to say thank you, and let you know that the work that you all do at Grace is truly amazing and wonderful. Thank you for continuing to be an instrument in the lives of people in Orlando, including mine.”
